Opportunities in the 5G Era

At present, the mainstream heat cooling scheme of 4G base stations is thermal conductive silica gel and cast aluminum/semi-solid die cast aluminum. The 5G base stations will be transformed into a heat cooling module scheme consisting of fins+loop heat pipes/VC+thermal conductive interface materials. Both materials and modes will be upgraded for 5G.
In the future, the construction of large-scale base stations, the improvement of 5G base stations' requirements for thermal management, whether in the front section of the antenna or the baseband processing unit, or power management, will put forward higher requirements for heat conduction of Heat Sinks and those metal machining components. The surge in demand for heat dissipation structural parts has also brought a wave of new challenges and opportunities to enterprises in the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain. In addition to the upgrading of product design and processing technology, there has also been further development in the research and development of materials that not just include Aluminum Heatsink, cooper Heatsinks or Ceramic Heatsinks. Although some magnesium alloys with high thermal conductivity have also been developed in the market, pure aluminum and aluminum alloys are still the main materials used in base station structures.
